PLA 2022: Reflecting on a Great Event
Unique was proud to be one of the hundreds of exhibitors on hand at PLA 2022. As Kal Penn put the finishing touches on a productive PLA 2022 Conference at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland last Friday, we wanted to put some thoughts down from the week on the west coast.
We enjoyed seeing some old and new faces at our booth at 946 throughout the entire conference. If you stopped by, you were sure to see our exciting product lineup, like our engaging patron email service, MessageBee, Fine Free Gentle Nudge®, and UniqueChat.

We had the opportunity to catch up with some old friends at the Jerry Kline Community Impact Award presentation. For the 2nd time in the three year history of the award, a Unique customer won this amazing prize! Congratulations to the Central Arkansas Library System!

Rob Klaus, President of Patron Services had this to say about the conference:
“Really great to be back in person and able to see many of our library customers and future customers. I haven’t stood up or talked that much in 2 years! As libraries fully re-open the relevance of Unique’s newest communication services such as MessageBee and New Mover tools were underscored by all of the conversations we had.”
Rob was joined by Erik Surber, the newest member of the Unique team, and a longtime library director. Erik had this to say about his first engagement as the Director of Library Relations at Unique Library:
“I love PLA— it’s my favorite library conference, and I grateful for the opportunity to attend on behalf of UMS. I am always enthusiastic about the exhibit hall, and our booth showcased the innovative services Unique offers. It was interesting to be on the other side of the table this time, and I hope I was able to anticipate the questions and concerns of librarians as they stopped by our booth to chat. It was also great to see my old friends in various libraries. I look forward to the next conference.“
